How it works
One tap to focus. One tap to come back.
Tap Out pairs a small NFC card with an app on your phone. The card doesn’t block anything by itself — it’s the key that turns your phone’s restrictions on and off.
-
1
Choose what to block
Pick the apps — and on iPhone, specific websites — that pull your attention most: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, games, whatever it is for you.
-
2
Tap your phone to the card
One tap activates your chosen blocking mode. No app to open, no toggle to second-guess.
-
3
Blocked apps step aside
Selected apps become inaccessible and their notifications go quiet for the length of the session.
-
4
Leave the card behind
Put it somewhere separate from you — a desk drawer, a shelf by the door — so ending the session takes an actual trip, not a tap on the screen you’re trying to avoid.
-
5
Tap again to unlock
When you’re back near the card, tap your phone against it and everything you blocked is available again.
Custom modes
Work. Study. Sleep. Gym.
Set up more than one mode, each with its own list of apps. A single card can mean something different depending on when you tap it — quiet notifications for a workout, a stricter lockdown for deep work.
The important part
The card is the key, not the block.
The NFC tap doesn’t do the blocking — it authorizes the app to turn restrictions on or off. That distinction is what makes it work as a habit:
At home — tap your phone to the card, and Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are blocked.
Leaving for work — leave the card at home, and your phone stays restricted all day.
Back home — tap the card again, and everything unlocks.
